A COLLECTION of Robert Burns songs recorded by Michael Jackson are set to be donated to a museum dedicated to the poet.




Jackson’s long-time friend David Gest revealed the late king of pop was so fascinated with Burns he recorded an album based on the Bard’s work.
And the previously unheard collection could be donated to the Burns’ Birthplace Museum in Alloway, Ayrshire.
Gest said he approached the museum about donating the work during a recent visit to Scotland.
The I’m a Celebrity.. Get Me Out of Here star said: “because we were both Burns fanatics I said to Michael, ‘let’s do a play about Burns’ life and he said he would help me with the music.
“Michael believed in the project so much he said ‘I’ll give you the studio and I’ll pay for all the music’.
“We went to his recording studio at the family home in Encino, where all the Jacksons grew up and we took about eight or 10 of Burn’s poems and we put them to contemporary music.
“They were things like A Red Red Rose and Ae Fond Kiss and the story of Tam O’Shanter.”
The pair chose what they considered the best works to adapt.
They had planned for the musical to be directed by Gene Kelly, and produced by actor Anthony Perkins – but both died before it could be staged.
The album was recorded shortly before Jackson’s death in June 2009.
A spokesman for the National Trust Of Scotland, who run the museum, said: “David Gest was recently at the Robert Burns Birthplace Museum filming.
“There was some discussion about the donation of some musical materials. If it goes ahead it will be an excitingaddition.”

UNA COLLEZIONE di traccie inedite registrate da Michael Jackson sarà donata ad un Museo dedicato al poeta Robert Burns.

L'amico di lunga data di Jackson, David Gest ha rivelato il defunto re del pop era così affascinato da Burns che registrò un intero album basato sul lavoro del "Bard".

La raccolta delle traccie dovevano essere già precedentemente donate al Museo, nella casa natale di Burns, ad Alloway, in Ayrshire.

Gest ha detto che aveva già fatto una visita precedentemente al museo per donare l'opera, durante una recente visita in Scozia.

La star di "Get Me Out of Here" ha detto: "Io e Michael eravamo entrambi fan di Burns e ho detto a Michael, 'facciamo un progetto sulla vita di Burns' allora Michael ha detto che mi avrebbe aiutato con la musica.

"Michael ha creduto cosi tanto nel progetto che mi ha detto: 'Ti darò uno studio e pagherò io per la produzione di tutta la musica'.

"Siamo andati nel suo studio di registrazione nella casa di famiglia a Encino, dove tutti i Jackson sono cresciuti e ci sono volute circa otto o dieci poesie di Burns e le abbiamo unite a della musica contemporanea.

“Riguardavano i temi 'A Red Red Rose' e 'Kiss Ae Fond' e la storia di Tam O'Shanter".

La coppia ha scelto ciò che consideravano i migliori lavori per l'adattamento.

Avevano previsto un musical che doveva essere diretto da Gene Kelly, e prodotto dall'attore Anthony Perkins - ma entrambi sono morti prima che potesse essere messo in scena.

L'album è stato registrato poco prima della morte di Jackson nel giugno 2009.

Un portavoce del National Trust of Scotland, che gestiscono il museo, ha dichiarato: "David Gest è stato recentemente presso il Museo nella casa natale di Robert Burns.
"Si è discusso circa la donazione di alcuni materiali musicali. Se il progetto andrà avanti sarà un'eccitante aggiunta alla collezione".
