Ne-Yo annuncia di voler pubblicare le canzoni scritte per MJ

King of Pop Michael Jackson was going to record my songs.. now I'm going to play them myself, says Ne-Yo


R&B star Ne-Yo is planning a Michael Jackson tribute album featuring songs he claims the late singer planned to record.

The 31-year-old chart-topper says he met with Jackson to discuss the new album in the months before the superstar died at home in Los Angeles in June 2009.

The American says he wrote and demoed 10 songs that Jackson was set to record as his next long-player.

Ne-Yo, real name Shaffer Chimere Smith Jnr, said: "I never got the opportunity to go in the studio and record the songs with Mike so all the tracks still have my voice on them.

"They are all in demo form. We were going to go into the studio and record them after his tour.

"Of course, with his passing, we didn't get the chance to do so.

"So I still have the songs. They are sitting in my archive, safe and sound, and I have been trying to figure out what I am going to do with them. The best idea I have is to go in and do my own Michael Jackson tribute album.

"I'll re-sing the songs to the best of my ability and I will put them out and let the world know these are the songs that would have been blessed with the voice of Michael Jackson had he not left us so soon."

Recalling his meeting with Jackson, Ne-Yo added: "I met Mike in New York. Someone told me he was a fan of my music and wanted to talk to me about working on his forthcoming project.

"So we met at a friend's house. He was a genuinely nice guy, not because he wanted something from me or wanted me to feel comfortable so I would write songs for him.

"He was talking about music and the love of music. We parted ways after a few hours and I walked away able to say I had sat and had a conversation with a legend."

Meanwhile, Ne-Yo will follow up his acting role in the critically-panned sci-fi blockbuster Battle: Los Angeles by playing a hitman in telly cop drama CSI: NY.

La Star R & B Ne-Yo ha in programma un tributo a Michael Jackson pubblicando un album con canzoni scritte per il cantante previste per il suo futuro album.
Il cantante, 31 anni, cappello a cilindro, dice di aver incontrato Jackson per discutere sul nuovo album, nei mesi precedenti alla morte della superstar nella casa a Los Angeles nel giugno 2009.
L'americano dice di aver scritto 10 canzoni e demo che Jackson aveva fissato di registrare nel suo prossimo long-player.

Ne-Yo, vero nome Shaffer Chimere Smith Jnr, ha dichiarato: "Non ho mai avuto l'opportunità di andare in studio e registrare le canzoni con Mike, per questo motivo tutti i brani hanno ancora la mia voce.
"Sono tutti in forma demo. Stavamo per andare in studio e registrarle dopo il suo tour.
"Certo, con la sua morte, non abbiamo avuto la possibilità di realizzarlo.

"Così ho ancora le canzoni. Sono conservate nel mio archivio, sane e salve, e ho cercato di capire cosa farò con loro. L'idea migliore che ho è realizzare un mio album-tributo a Michael Jackson.

"Ri-cantare le canzoni al meglio delle mie possibilità e farle uscire fuori, cosi da far conoscere al mondo le canzoni che sarebbero state benedette con la voce di Michael Jackson, se non avesse ci ha lasciato così presto."

Ricordando il suo incontro con Jackson, Ne-Yo ha aggiunto: "Ho incontrato Mike a New York, Qualcuno mi disse che era un fan della mia musica e voleva parlare con me per lavorare al suo prossimo progetto..

"Così ci siamo incontrati a casa di un amico. Era una persona veramente bella, non perché volesse qualcosa da me o voleva farmi stare tranquillo per scrivere canzoni per lui.
"Parlava di musica e l'amore per la musica. Ci separammo dopo un paio d'ore e mi allontanai, ma potevo finalmente dire che mi ero seduto e avevo avuto un colloquio con una leggenda."

Nel frattempo, Ne-Yo continuerà nel suo ruolo d'attore Battle: Los Angeles , incentrato sul dramma di un killer in stile-tv CSI e un poliziotto a NY.
