Michael Jackson tribute concert planned

Michael Jackson's family are reportedly planning a tribute concert in his memory.
The late 'Thriller' hitmaker - who died of acute Propofol intoxication at his home in Los Angeles on June 25 in 2009 - will be remembered with a huge event in Los Angeles featuring a number of world famous artists and all proceeds are set to go to charity according to In Touch Weekly.
Michael's family members, sister La Toya, brothers Marlon, Jackie and Tito and mother Katherine are set to announce the details in a global press conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Monday.
It is unclear is any of Michael's siblings will perform at the event although it is a possibility after his sister Janet showcased a virtual duet with her deceased brother in London last month.
Janet revealed singing their 1995 duet 'Scream' with Michael makes her feel closer to him, explaining "It's therapeutic, you know and it makes me smile inside. I mean the energy of the song is fierce but makes it makes me smile inside when I hear him, when I hear his voice."

Jackson Family Announce Tribute Concert

Several members of Michael Jackson’s family unveiled plans on Monday for a tribute concert to the late King of Pop.




The tribute show, supported by Jackson family matriarch Katherine Jackson, will be held on October 8 in Cardiff, Wales at the Millennium Stadium, which holds about 75,000 people. It will be broadcast live via satellite on pay-per-view television and into movie theaters around the world, some of which will screen it in 3D, said promoter Global Live Events.

Katherine Jackson told reporters at the unveiling in Los Angeles that she is proud of the event and the caliber of singers performing. No names were announced on Monday.

“If my son was here today, he would feel the same way, and so I’d like to say thank you very much for helping to keep my son’s legacy alive,” she said.

Jermaine, and Michael Jackson’s father Joe, were not on hand at Monday’s announcement. Instead, Katherine was joined by family members, Tito, Jackie, Marlon and La Toya.

“I know that this tribute will be something spectacular,” LaToya told reporters.

Michael Jackson continua a occupare un posto importante nel cuore dei suoi fans e dei suoi familiari ma anche degli amanti della musica in tutto il mondo.Durante una conferenza stampa tenuta ieri a Los Angeles i componenti della famiglia Jackson riuniti hanno annunciato che a ottobre si terrà un concerto in memoria del defunto Re del Pop.La serata, prevista per l'8 ottobre, avrà luogo al Millennium Stadium di Cardiff e celebrerà il 40esimo anniversario dell'esordio di Michael.

MJ Tribute Concert: “The more you pledge to charity, the more chance you have of getting a ticket”



FANS hoping to go to the Michael Jackson tribute concert at the Millennium Stadium in October have been told their chances of being there depend on how much they are willing to donate to charity – on top of the ticket price.

Chris Hunt, boss of concert organisers Global Events Live, told CNN profits from the October 8 Michael Forever show would go to charities in the United States and Britain.

These are The Prince’s Trust, Aids Project Los Angeles and a cancer charity.

But fans logging on to the Global Events website to buy tickets – which will not be available until August 4 – are told: “Choose your ticket price and tell us how much you will give to the charities at the time of purchase.

“Remember the more you pledge to charity, the more chance you have of getting a ticket. Tickets will range from £55 to £289 plus shipping. The amount of your pledge is up to you.”

Fans of MJ have reacted angrily to the situation.

Cardiff father-of-three Daniel Robertson, 32, said he wanted tickets for his wife Ceri and their three children.

He said: “It’s going to be like a lottery for the rich for myself and my family because the ticket prices are really high.

“So they are steep tickets regardless, and then you have to donate to charity. I do a lot of work for the MS Society but it is wrong that you should be considered by the amount you can give to charity.”

On the concert’s Facebook page Caroline Rowley – who also lives in Cardiff – said: “What an utter disgrace. Choose what price you want to pay and then donate to a charity? The more you donate the more you stand to get a ticket? Disgusting.”

Mayah Thomas said: “Makes no sense does it? Why do they think anyone would be dumb enough to do that?”

The Western Mail contacted Global Live and were referred to PR company Franklin Rae. A spokeswoman claimed she was not aware of the situation and was unable to comment.

The Millennium Stadium is owned by the WRU. A spokesman said: “We will, as usual, ensure that all ticket distribution complies with the stadium’s obligations.”

He insisted the company only provided the venue, adding: “We will ensure that the promoter is aware of any concerns raised in relation to the sale and distribution of tickets to the concert.”

The furore comes as it was revealed the show has caused a huge rift in the Jackson family.

Michael’s brothers Jermaine and Randy Jackson have both distanced themselves from it, though the event has been endorsed by their mum Katherine, the singer’s sister La Toya and his brothers Tito, Marlon and Jackie.

In a statement Jermaine and Randy said: “We find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael’s death.

“Furthermore, the decision to proceed with this concert disrespects opinions and wishes expressed in the strongest terms to Global Live during conversations in April when this event was presented to the majority of the family as an idea already in its advanced stages.

“There will come a time and place for an amazing and deserving tribute to Michael. But we feel that the most important tribute we can give to our brother at this time is to seek justice in his name.”

Jermaine then tweeted he was “offered good money” to take part in the show.

“We declined. It’s not about the money,” he said.

He added that he “wouldn’t reconsider” his position “even if dates were moved because of how (the) promoter has handled matters”.

I fan di MJ hanno reagito con rabbia alla situazione.

Un padre di tre bambini Daniel Robertson, 32 anni, di Cardiff ha detto che voleva acquistare i biglietti per la moglie Ceri e i loro tre figli.

I fratelli di Michael, Randy e Jermaine Jackson hanno entrambi preso le distanze da esso, anche se l'evento è stato approvato dalla mamma Katherine dalla sorella La Toya e i fratelli Tito, Marlon e Jackie.

Jermaine dopo la dichiarazione contro il tributo ha scritto su Twitter che gli sono stati "offerti soldi" per prendere parte allo spettacolo, ma "Abbiamo rifiutato. Non è una questione di soldi " ha scritto.
Ha aggiunto che "la sua posizione non sarà riconsiderata", anche se "le date sono state spostate a causa di questioni riguardanti la gestione del promotore".

Si legge nei vari forum e su fb che questo concerto sarà un altro flop per via della mancata autorizzazione della Tenuta di Michael Jackson inoltre sono tutti inviperiti per come hanno disposto l'acquisto dei biglietti......a chi offre di più...seppur in beneficenza

Esecutori Michael Jackson potrebbero non consentire di utilizzare il nome


Altri guai per concerto tributo MJ annunciato ieri
dalla madre e tre fratelli, fissato per il 8 ottobre a Cardiff, Galles.
Ieri, i fratelli Randy e Jermaine espresso opposizione ad essa

Michael Jackson executors may not allow name to be used in tribute show

More trouble for the Michael Jackson tribute concert announced yesterday by his mother and three siblings, set for October 8 in Cardiff, Wales. Yesterday, brothers Jermaine and Randy voiced opposition to it because it was during the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray. Now, the executors of the Jackson estate have released a statement that puts the show somewhat in jeopardy.

A spokesman for the executors said "Executors for Michael's estate were unaware of the planned tribute and have not been approached to authorize the use of his name."

A separate statement from the executors added "The Estate has not been contacted and is not involved with Global Events Live in the UK tribute concert announced today."

The chances of the estate granting the members of the Jackson family permission to use Michael's name may have been seriously compromised recently with the release of LaToya Jackson's book that alleges that Michael's death was actually a conspiracy by the executors. That was compounded by what is now thought to be a bogus statement made by mother Katherine Jackson attacking the executors over their lawsuit against the Heal the World Foundation. Shortly after the statement came out, Katherine was saying she did not make it and had her lawyer, Adam Streisand, announce "Mrs. Jackson categorically denies signing any statement to the court that makes accusations against the executors of any wrongdoing with respect to her son or his estate. She did not and would not make any such statements about the executors."

Katherine herself then issued a statement apparently trying to smooth over the rift with LaToya's comments, saying "So far I have not seen one shred of evidence that anyone associated with Michael's estate conspired to kill him."

So, the tribute show now lays in the hands of two men who have been attacked with some serious allegations and who hold the key to using the Michael Jackson name at the tribute concert. It looks like it may be another tribute that will never be.

Craig David: ‘I’ve been booked for Michael Jackson tribute concert’




Craig David has claimed he will be playing at the forthcoming Michael Jackson tribute concert in Wales.

The R&B singer said he was “honoured” to be booked for the gig, which is scheduled to take place at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on October 8.

Writing on his official Facebook page, David said:

I am honoured to announce I will be performing alongside some of the world’s greatest artists at the Michael Jackson tribute concert.

The Southampton singer’s career has been on the slide since being mercilessly parodied on TV sketch show Bo Selecta, whose title was based on Artful Dodger’s 1999 David-featuring track ‘Rewind’.

Ticket registration for the tribute gig was due to open on Thursday (August 4), but has now been put on hold.

Chris Hunt, chairman at promoter Global Live Events, told the Western Mail:

We will be announcing an incredible line-up very soon. The registration period was put on hold because we want people to know who they are registering to see.

The tribute concert has divided opinion in the Jackson family. Although his mother Katherine Jackson, sister La Toya and brothers Tito, Marlon and Jackie are all thought to be behind the event, brothers Jermaine and Randy have labelled the gig ‘inappropriate’ and ‘ill-timed’.

The duo criticised the timing of the gig, which coincides with the trial of doctor Conrad Murray, who is accused of causing Michael Jackson’s death.

MJ Tribute Concert: New Ticket Details Emerge

Organisers of the Michael Jackson tribute concert in Cardiff have insisted fans will all have an equal chance of getting a ticket, following complaints by fans.



Global Live Events’ website this morning released further details of the controversial ticketing system which this week sparked anger from MJ fans across the world.

Ticket buyers for the October 8 show at the Welsh capital’s Millennium Stadium were originally told they would also have to make a donation to charity.

When the Michael Forever Tribute Concert was announced by some members of the Jackson family on Monday, the official concert website stated: “The more you pledge to charity, the more chance you have of getting a ticket.”

But now a revamped version of the ticketing system has appeared on http://home.michaelforevertribute.com/home.html

It says: “We wanted to avoid the usual frantic rush and confusion when tickets for big events go on sale.

“We also wanted to stop ticket touts making huge sums of money off the fans. Our system is simple and calm and ensures that those applying to buy tickets have an equal chance of having their tickets reserved for them

“When the countdown reaches ZERO you will be able to register your interest on the website. You will enter your contact details, choose your ticket price level and enter a charity pledge.

“The registration period will last four days to give everyone an opportunity to register.

“The charity pledge can be as low as £1, and for the lower price ranges tickets will be allocated by simple ballot at the end of the registration period.

“We want everybody to be able to afford to come – even the lowest bidders have an equal chance of purchasing a ticket.”

But it still says the best seats will go to the highest bidders, adding: “At the end of the registration period we will also analyse the pledge amounts and allocate tickets to the more expensive seats to those making the highest pledge.”

Details of the ticket pricing structure have been removed from the website.

However, at Monday night’s announcement it was said that tickets would be priced from £55 to £289,

Il sito del Global Eventi Live 'questa mattina ha rilasciato ulteriori dettagli sul sistema di bigliettazione controverso che questa settimana ha scatenato la rabbia dei fan di MJ tutto il mondo.

Per l'aguisto dei biglietti per il suo show 8 ottobre presso la capitale del Galles al Millennium Stadium si era inizialmente detto che si sarebbe anche dovuta fare una donazione in beneficenza.

Quando il Concerto Tributo Michael Sempre stato annunciato da alcuni membri della famiglia Jackson il Lunedi, il sito ufficiale dei concerti ha dichiarato: "Più impegno per carità, più possibilità ci sono di ottenere un biglietto."

Ma ora una versione rinnovata del sistema di bigliettazione è apparso sulle http://home.michaelforevertribute.com/home.html

Dice: "Abbiamo voluto evitare la corsa frenetica è la solita confusione quando i biglietti per il grande eventi saranno messi in vendita.

"Abbiamo anche voluto fermare i bagarini dal fare enormi somme di denaro . Il nostro sistema è semplice e tranquillo e assicura che coloro che chiedono di acquistare i biglietti hanno la stessa probabilità di avere i biglietti a loro riservati

"Quando il conto alla rovescia raggiungera lo zero si sarà in grado di registrarsi sul sito. Potrete inserire i vostri dati, scegliere il livello di prezzo del biglietto e di entrare in un impegno di carità.

"Il termine d'iscrizione durerà quattro giorni di tempo per dare a tutti l'opportunità di registrarsi.

La donazione volontaria può essere anche minima, di 1 Euro, e per le fasce con la donazione piu bassa, verranno riservati biglietti a scalara alla fine del periodo di donazione.Vogliamo che tutti possa avere la possibilità di esserci-anche coloro che offrono di menodevono avere la stessa possibilità di acquistare il biglietto

"Vogliamo che tutti siano in grado di permettersi di venire - anche i più bassi offerenti hanno la stessa probabilità di acquisto di un biglietto."

Si dice che i posti migliori andranno ai migliori offerenti, aggiungendo:"Al termine del del periodo di vendita , si analizzeranno gli importi delle donazioni e si assegneranno i psosti piu costosi a coloro impiegheranno il massimo impegno".

I dettagli della struttura dei prezzi dei biglietti sono stati rimossi dal sito.

Tuttavia, nell'annuncio di Lunedi sera si è detto che i biglietti costeranno da £ 55 a £ 289, più spese di spedizione.

Tributo a Michael Jackson, c'è il primo cantante

Al concerto-tributo concepito dalla famiglia di Michael Jackson e che si svolgerà il prossimo 8 ottobre al Millenium Stadium di Cardiff spunta il primo nome. A due settimane dall'annuncio, che ha lasciato i media freddi ed è stato criticato da due fratelli del defunto Re del Pop, Jermaine e Randy, ecco dunque la prima firma sul cartellone. Si tratta di Craig David, trentenne cantante britannico che nel 2000 fece
gridare al miracolo per il suo album d'esordio "Born to do it" ma le cui quotazioni sono successivamente diminuite. Il suo ultimo album, "Signed sealed delivered" del 2010, ha ottenuto il numero 13 nel Regno Unito mentre negli USA non è riuscito ad entrare in chart. L'artista R&B di Southampton ha detto: "Ho l'onore d'annunciare che mi esibirò, al fianco di alcuni tra i più grandi artisti del mondo, al concerto in omaggio a Michael Jackson".

Probabilmente iniziative simili che precedentemente si sarebbero dovute svolgere a Vienna, Roma e Londra e che finirono in flop non c'entrano, ma curiosamente l'inizio della prevendita, atteso per lo scorso 4 agosto, è stato congelato. La giustificazione proviene da Chris Hunt, presidente di Global Live Events, il quale ha affermato: "Presto annunceremo un cartellone incredibile. Abbiamo fermato le
registrazioni solo perché vogliamo che la gente sappia chi andrà a vedere". Jermaine e Randy avevano detto: "Pensiamo sia impossibile aderire a questa manifestazione che avrà luogo negli stessi giorni che vedranno svolgersi processo penale per accertare le cause della sua morte. Come tutti saprete, le udienze prenderanno il via il prossimo 20 settembre, mentre il concerto di Cardiff è stato programmato per

Katherine Jackson Courting MASSIVE Stars for MJ Tribute Show




Michael Jackson's mom has personally reached out to some of the biggest music stars in the world in the hopes of getting them to perform at the big MJ tribute show in October ... but only ONE of them is a definite YES ... TMZ has learned.

Sources connected to the concert tell us ... Jay-Z, Kanye West, Cee Lo, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, Usher and Bruno Mars have each received an invitation (pictured above) from Katherine Jackson ... asking them to perform 1 or 2 of their favorite MJ songs in Cardiff, Wales on Oct. 8.

Katherine promises each star who signs on will be provided with "first class travel accommodations."

We're told Chris Brown, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars have each respectfully declined the invite due to scheduling conflicts ... however, Christina and Kanye are leaning towards "Yes."

As for the one person who's already signed on the dotted line -- sources tell us Cee Lo from Gnarls Barkley was quick to commit.

Tickets to the event have not gone on sale yet -- but promoters say they will become available once a complete line-up is booked.

Katherine, has asked some of the biggest stars in music to perform.

The elaborate invitations state: "My son was a fan of your work and it would be our pleasure to have you be a part of this historic event. The music will be provided by seasoned musicians including members of Michael's band.

"We would like you to select one of two of your favourite Michael Jackson songs to perform that day in honour of my son."

Of those invited, Kanye West is said to be on board for the event, as is British soul singer Craig David and Cee Lo Green, while Christina Aguilera is also said to be trying to make it.

Other stars, including Chris Brown, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars have reportedly had to respectfully decline their invitations, due to scheduling conflicts.

More acts for the line up are expected to be confirmed in coming days. It is also expected that many of Michael's family will take to the stage at the event.

MJ TRIBUTE CONCERT The Plot To INVADE AMERICA



Michael Jackson fans in the U.S. may NOT have to cross the pond to catch the LIVE MJ Tribute Concert in October ... TMZ has learned plans are in the works to LIVESTREAM the show at several major arenas around the country.

TMZ spoke with a rep for Global Live -- the company behind the event -- who tells us producers are working with several major U.S. venues in the hopes of broadcasting the event on jumbotrons to give audiences the concert experience without having to go all the way to Wales (it's a country in Europe!).

We're told nothing has been finalized ... but Global Live is actively trying to seal the deal.

As we previously reported, stars like Kanye West, Christina Aguilera and Jay-Z have all been contacted about playing the event. So far, the only act who's signed on the dotted line is Cee Lo from Gnarls Barkley.



MJ CONCERTO TRIBUTO: IL PROGETTO PER INVADERE L'AMERICA

Michael Jackson tribute line-up revealed

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Acts signed for October's tribute concert for Michael Jackson include Christina Aguilera, Leona Lewis, Smokey Robinson, Cee Lo Green and JLS, the promoters told CNN Thursday.

Members of the Jackson family taking the stage October 8 in Cardiff, Wales, include several of Michael Jackson's brothers, "the next generation of Jacksons," and 3T, which consists of Tito Jackson's three sons.

Alternative rock band Alien Ant Farm and British R&B singer Craig David are also on the bill, while other artists will be added in the next few days, according to promoter Global Live Events.

"This announcement is just the beginning, we have many more to announce," Global Live Events executive Paul Ring said. "This concert will unite various generations and musical genres, reminding everyone of just how amazing a talent Michael was."

With the "Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert" line-up now known, fans can start "registering their interest for tickets" online at http://www.michaelforevertribute.com/ beginning Thursday, the promoter said. A lottery will determine which fans will be invited to purchase tickets, it said.

The concert in the Wales Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, which seats 75,000 people, would be at least four hours long, Global Live Events CEO Chris Hunt said.

Jackson matriarch Katherine Jackson and the promoter are scheduled to discuss the show's plans in a live broadcast on CNN Monday.

The delay produced grumbling and doubts expressed on Jackson fan websites, but promoters hope the revelation of the line-up will satisfy them. "Fans of Michael's music will get the concert they've been waiting for," Hunt said in a message posted on the promoter's website last week.

Two of the five surviving Jackson brothers, Jermaine and Randy, objected to the timing of the show, issuing a sharply worded statement last month that reflected a deep division within the Jackson family.

"We want to make clear that this does not reflect the position of the entire family," the two brothers said in a joint statement after their mother and four siblings endorsed the show.

"While we wholeheartedly support the spirit of a tribute that honors our brother, we find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael's death," Jermaine and Randy Jackson said.

The involuntary manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson's physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, begins in September and is expected to continue into October.

While Katherine Jackson has previously said she would attend every day of Murray's trial -- as she did when her son was tried on a sex charge -- the promoter said the Jackson mother will travel to Wales for the concert.

"In light of this, we feel it is inappropriate to be involved with such an ill-timed event and its promoter, Global Live," Randy and Jermaine Jackson said.

Their statement said the idea of the October concert was presented to the entire family in April "as an idea already in its advanced stages." The decision to go ahead with it "disrespects opinions and wishes expressed in the strongest terms" by some members of the Jackson family, they said.

The Michael Jackson Fan Club agreed with the two brothers, issuing a similar statement.

"We share their concerns that this concert is taking place at a most inappropriate time when everyone's care and attention should be focused on the matter of justice. We believe that, as stated by Jermaine and Randy, the most important tribute we can give to Michael Jackson at this time is to seek justice in his name."

Jackson fans posted messages on the concert's Facebook page questioning ticket prices and the process for buying them.

Fans must register for a chance to buy a ticket. While the website initially said the higher a pledge to a charity they make while registering, the better their chances of getting a good seat. It was later revised to say that donations are not mandatory and all applications will have an equal chance.

A portion of the concert proceeds, particularly fan pledges, will go to charities, The Aids Project LA and The Prince's Trust, the promoters said.

A spokesman for Michael Jackson's estate said last month that the promoters never sought or obtained permission from the estate's executors to use the late pop singer's name or image.

"The estate has not been contacted and is not involved with Global Live Events in the UK tribute concert announced today," spokesman Jim Bates told CNN.

Un portavoce del patrimonio di Michael Jackson ha detto il mese scorso che i promotori non hanno mai chiesto o ottenuto il permesso dagli esecutori di utilizzare il nome del cantante pop defunto o la sua immagine.

Christina Aguilera has finally agreed to perform at the Michael Jackson Tribute Concert in Wales in October ... promoters have announced.



Xtina will be joined by Cee Lo, Smokey Robinson, Leona Lewis, Craig David, UK boy band JLS, and Alien Ant Farm -- known for their 2001 cover of MJ's "Smooth Criminal."

Members of the Jackson family will also be performing at the October 8th concert in Cardiff -- including several of his brothers -- but we're guessing that list doesn't include Jermaine or Randy.

According to an executive for Global Live Events, this is just the tip of the iceberg -- "This announcement is just the beginning, we have many more to announce."

MJ's KIDS We're Going To the Tribute Concert DESPITE Jermaine's Wishes



Michael Jackson's children have decided they want to fly to Wales to catch the upcoming MJ Tribute Concert in person ... despite the fact they're getting pushback from two of their famous uncles.

An MJ family rep tells us, "Paris, Blanket and Prince have been asked to attend the MJ Tribute in Wales and they have decided to go."

The rep adds, "They are extremely excited and they're hoping they will have the opportunity to contribute in some way by making a speech. Nothing has been set in stone yet for how they can help, but they really hope they can. "

However, we're told, "Jermaine and Randy are fighting it."

As TMZ previously reported, the two brothers feel the timing of the tribute is "inappropriate" -- explaining, "We find it impossible to support an event that is due to take place during the criminal trial surrounding Michael's death."
