Wizz show reignites the Michael Jackson magic

Showtime Management, managers of some of the best known tribute shows in the world, sell Kenny Wizz as the "world's number one impersonator."
Undoubtedly, it takes a special skill, and perhaps some personal indistinctness, to convincingly inhabit and project the body of work left by, arguably, the most loved performer and entertainer the world had ever seen.
In impersonating 'King of Pop' Michael Jackson, Los Angeles-born Wizz is so convincing that the audience, which turned up in droves at the Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) on Friday night, frequently chanted "Michael! Michael!" in lieu of the sometimes heard "Kenny! Kenny!"
For the live tribute concert, straight from Las Vegas stages, Wizz stayed firmly with Jackson's older songs, performing everything from the songs that stayed in the periphery of people's experience, the ones you can hum to, but can't quite name to the his biggest singles credited with revolutionising pop music and music video.He performed everything from ABC, which Jackson performed with his brothers as part of the Jackson 5, to the groundbreaking Thriller. Wizz exploded on stage wearing a Jackson-esque gold bodysuit over his black trousers, which were, of course, just long enough to graze his ankles, and showed off his white socks. Although the audience didn't seem to have taken to him during his first song performance, perhaps due to the surrealistic sight of the uncanny resemblance of the performer to Jackson, the second song of the night, Don't Really Care About Us - with its marching-band inspired drums, roused the audience.
The performer seems to have placed himself firmly within the Michael Jackson persona; he has mastered Jacko's signature moves, including the moonwalk, the crotch-grabbing, the crotch-thrusting and the standing on the tip-toes.
He even has his mannerisms and his talking-voice down pat, which was revealed when he introduced himself to the audience.
In the first half of the show, Wizz outdid himself in his performances of Black And White, You Are Not Alone, Don't Stop "Til You Get Enough, Man In The Mirror and Earth Song.
The backdrop of what looks like old school Chicago, and the costumes worn by the dancers contributed to the atmospheric feel of The Way You Make Me Feel.
When he returned for the second half, he impressed with his performances of Smooth Criminal, Beat It and Bad.
The crowd was also noticeably more relaxed with people dancing in. For a while, it looked like he would close the show without performing crowd-favourites Billie Jean and Thriller. But he came back, and for Thriller, created near-chaos when his dancers, dressed like much scarier versions of scarecrows or something to that effect, jumped into the crowd and chased after some of the children in the crowd. Thriller also got audience members trying out their knowledge of the famous choreography.
The show was a much-needed refreshment to the Gaborone night scene, and for many who attended the event, it may be apt to say The King of Pop may be dead but his legacy lives on. Long live the King!

Indubbiamente ci vuole un' abilità speciale, e forse qualche predisposizione personale, per riuscire a proiettare l' idea di colui che muoveva il corpo in modo unico, probabilmente, l'intrattenitore più amato che il mondo abbia mai visto.
Impersonando il "Re del pop" Michael Jackson, a Los Angeles, Wizz è talmente convincente che il pubblico, che si è presentato in massa presso l'International Convention Centre Gaborone (GICC) venerdì sera, che ha spesso urlato "Michael!! Michael!!" al posto del poco sentito "Kenny!! Kenny!!".
Per il concerto tributo dal vivo, direttamente da Las Vegas, Wizz è rimasto saldamente ancorato alle vecchie canzoni di Jackson, l'esecuzione di tutto, dai brani che sono rimasti nella esperienza delle persone.Ha eseguito tutto da ABC, che Jackson ha eseguito con i suoi fratelli come parte dei Jackson 5, fino all' innovativa Thriller.
Wizz è esploso in scena indossando un body come quello di Jackson con i suoi pantaloni neri, che erano, ovviamente, giusto in tempo per sfiorare le caviglie, mostrando i calzini bianchi.
Anche se il pubblico non sembrava inizialmente essere rimasto impressionato da lui durante la prima canzone, forse a causa della vista surreale della somiglianza del performer di Jackson, la seconda canzone della notte, They don't care about us, con la sua marcia ha risvegliato il pubblico.
L'esecutore sembra essersi posizionato stabilmente all'interno del personaggio di Michael Jackson, ha padroneggiato le sue mosse, tra cui il moonwalk, la presa del cavallo, ondeggiare l'inguine, e la spinta sulle punte dei piedi.
Ha anche i suoi manierismi ed il suo parlare a voce bassa, che è stato rivelato quando si è presentato al pubblico.
Nella prima metà dello show, Wizz ha superato se stesso nelle sue performance di Black or white, You Are Not Alone, Don't stop ìtil you get enough, Man In the Mirror ed Earth song.
Sullo sfondo di quello che sembra la vecchia scuola di Chicago, ed i costumi indossati dai danzatori..tutto ha contribuito alla sensazione atmosferica di The Way You Make Me Feel.
Quando è tornato per la seconda parte, ha impressionato con le sue performance di Smooth Criminal, Beat It e Bad.
La folla era anche notevolmente più rilassata con persone che ballavano e per un attimo sembrava che avrebbe chiuso lo show senza eseguire Billie Jean e Thriller. Ma è tornato, e per Thriller, ha creato quasi caos quando i suoi ballerini, vestiti come le versioni più spaventose di spaventapasseri o qualcosa in tal senso, sono saltati in mezzo alla folla ed hanno inseguito alcuni dei bambini in mezzo alla folla.
Lo spettacolo è stato tanto necessario per il ristoro della scena notturna di Gaborone, e per molti che hanno partecipato all'evento, anche se il Re del Pop è mancato, la sua eredità continua a vivere.
